Sylvia Bazzarelli, born in Brazil, founded the London School of Capoeira (LSC) in 1988. She began learning dance at the age of seven and began studying Capoeira at the age of sixteen at the Movimentos School of Capoeira in Santos, at the time a branch of the Associação de Capoeira Senzala of Master Sombra in Santos, São Paulo. She came to England with the teacher's belt and was given the Master's belt by Master Sombra in 1994 at the Jackson's Lane Theatre at one of the LSC's grading ceremonies.

Marcos dos Santos, born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. In 1991 he was invited by the London School of Capoeira to join the school as one of the directors and teachers. He began studying Capoeira at the age of eight in Natal and in 1984 at the age of twelve he joined the Associação of Capoeira Senzala of Master Sombra, Santos, São Paulo. He left the Senzala Academy with the instructor's belt and was given the Master's belt in 2006 by Master Sombra at the Riverside Studios Theatre at one of the LSC's grading ceremonies.

The Brazilian Confederation of Capoeira, São Paulo, Brazil, recognizes Masters Sylvia and Marcos qualifications.
